This new login tool fixes Mac password sync issues

Information Resources & Technology is rolling out a new tool that streamlines the process of updating and syncing passwords on Rowan-managed Macs. In other words, Mac keychain password problems will soon be a thing of the past.

This new tool — called Jamf Connect —  makes some behind-the-scenes changes to the way accounts are managed to improve password syncing. Jamf Connect also makes changes to the login screens and login process and includes a menu bar application that shows how many days you have until your password expires and provides links to frequently-used services.

If you work on a Rowan-managed Mac, you can start using Jamf Connect today. To opt-in to Jamf Connect, make sure to save and close any in-progress work and then:

  1. Go to Finder > Applications > Self Service
  2. Log in with your Rowan NetID
  3. Click Install Jamf Connect

It will take up to 15 minutes to install and set up Jamf Connect. Once Jamf Connect installs, you’ll automatically be logged out, and then you will log in through the new method.

We will be rolling out Jamf Connect to Rowan-managed Macs in phases during the spring semester. To learn more about this new tool, review our article on Jamf Connect
