The new version of MAC OS X, 10.10 (Yosemite) is expected to be released today, Thursday October 16th, and is currently incompatible with the ClearPass registration system and potentially other services at Rowan.

JMP Software

Rowan's Mathematics Department has a campus license for the statistical software JMP that is available to download for students and faculty for their personally owned systems. To obtain the license and installer for JMP Pro, please follow the instructions below. In order to download the software and the license, you'll need to login with your Rowan username and password when prompted.

Downloads

JMP version installers and license files are below.

NOTE: JMP Pro 12.1 is the current release of this software. If you are using JMP for a class (e.g., Statistics I) the Summer semester of 2017 you should download/renew license of JMP Pro 12.1. Starting the Fall semester of 2017, the university labs and classrooms will switch to Pro 13.1. 

How to Install JMP Pro on Your Own Computer

Mac Users

  1. Download the Mac JMP license file by clicking the link above then saving the page (File → Save As) as a text file in the downloads section. Create a new folder inside your Documents folder, and name it "SAS Installation Data." Then, drag the JMP license txt file from your Downloads folder into this new folder.
  2. Download JMP Pro for Mac from the links above
  3. Launch the JMP.dmg file that you downloaded in step 2. Then, start the installation process by clicking on JMP Pro.pkg in the JMP-12-Installer window that opens.
  4. After installation is complete, launch JMP Pro on your Mac. A window may pop up asking you to provide the license file. If so, click on Open License, and navigate to the mac_license.txt file that you placed in your Documents folder during step 1 of these instructions. After validation of the license file, you may be prompted for a location to store the JMP.PER file that is created during the validation process. It is recommended that you store this JMP.PER file in your Applications folder.
  5. You can enter an administrator name (Babis Papachristou) and department (Mathematics) if you wish, or leave those fields blank. Then, click on "OK."
  6. You are now ready to start using JMP Pro on your Mac.

Windows PC Users

  1. Navigate to the My Documents folder on your computer's hard drive. Create a new folder there, and name it "SAS Installation Data."
  2. Download the Windows JMP license file by clicking the link above then saving the page (File → Save As) as a text file in the downloads section. Move the license file from your Downloads folder into the SAS Installation Data folder you created within your My Documents folder during step 1.
  3. Download the zipped JMP Pro for Windows version from the links above
  4. Extract the downloaded JMP zip directory by clicking on it.
  5. To launch the installation, navigate through the following path in the extracted folder: 
    JMP_PC > JMP > JMP_Pro > 12.1 (or 13.1) > Windows > setup.exe. (Make sure you click on the setup file with the blue icon and the .exe file extension; there is more than one setup file in this directory!)
  6. After installation is complete, launch JMP Pro using the shortcut that should appear on your desktop. A window may pop up indicating that the asking for the location of the JMP license file. If so, click on Open License, and navigate to the JMP license txt file that you placed in the SAS Installation Data folder during step 2 of these instructions. After validation of the license file, you may be prompted for a location to store the JMP.PER license file that is created during the validation process. It is recommended that you store this file in the same location where JMP was installed. If you run into Windows security issues, launch JMP Pro in Administrative mode by right-clicking on the JMP desktop icon and choosing "Run as Administrator."
  7. You can enter an administrator name (Babis Papachristou) and department (Mathematics) if you wish, or leave those fields blank. Then, click on "OK."
  8. Delete the extracted installation folder from your desktop once you are certain that the installation was successful.
  9. You are now ready to start using JMP Pro on your PC.

Renew License

If you have previously installed JMP Pro on your own computer, you may have noticed that the license expires on June 14. It will continue to run under a grace period for 90 days. You will need to update your license before the grace period ends. To renew the license do the following steps: 

  1. Create (if you does not already exist) a folder named "SAS Installation Data in your "Documents" folder.
  2. Download from the IRT website the license file for Mac or Windows above in the downloads section.
    Do not open this file or alter it in any way. If you alter the file, it will NOT work!
  3. Once you have placed the license file on your computer, updating the license will depend on whether the license has already expired or has not yet expired:

License has already expired:

  1. Launch JMP Pro
  2. A “Renew Your JMP License” window will pop up asking you to provide a new license file.
  3. Click “Open License.”
  4. At the prompt, navigate to where you saved the new license file in Step 1.
  5. Click “Open.”
  6. Enter an Administrator Name and Department if you desire.
  7. Click “OK.” 

License has not expired yet:

  1. Launch JMP Pro
  2. From the File menu, select “New > Script” to open a script window.
  3. Enter the following command in the script window (type exactly as it appears): 
    renew license();
  4. From the “Edit” menu, select “Run Script”. A “Renew Your JMP License” window will pop up asking you to provide a new license file.
  5. Click “Open License.”
  6. At the prompt, navigate to where you saved the new license file in Step 1.
  7. Click “Open.”
  8. Enter an Administrator Name and Department if you desire.
  9. Click “OK.”
