Cellphones for University Employees

All University cellphones are acquired from Verizon Wireless. To inquire about latest pricing and models of available phones, contact Rowan’s Verizon Wireless Representative:

If any information needs to be updated on a cell phone account (name, FOAPAL, department), please send changes to irt@rowan.edu.

New phone process

All new lines and phone requests require department head/dean level approval prior to ordering. The department head is required to send an email to irt@rowan.edu with the following information:

  • Name of the person receiving the phone
  • Make and model number of phone requested
  • FOAPAL to be charged for the new line

The order will be placed and the charge will appear on departmental phone bill.

All replacement or upgraded phones also need department head/dean level approval before being ordered.  The department head is required to send an email to irt@rowan.edu with the following information:

  • Name and phone number of the person receiving the phone
  • Make and model number of phone requested

All cell phones will be delivered to the Information Resources & Technology's offices in Memorial Hall. IRT will notify you when the phone arrives so that we can assist you with its activation.

Billing

The cellphone charges are billed internally through the departmental phone bill. When a new line is ordered, the department must send the FOAPAL information to irt@rowan.edu so the charges will be billed appropriately. 

Under our plan, the following are NOT covered and will incur additional charges:

  • Directory assistance 411 calls
  • Pictures and videos either sent or received 
  • Application downloads

International Calls

Calls outside the United States are not covered under the University’s plan. However, the phone can temporarily be put on an international billing plan for that period of time if someone is traveling outside the United States. 

Send a request to irt@rowan.edu stating your phone number/account, reason for international calls and list of travel dates. This information will be sent to Verizon for processing.

NOTE: Please have this information submitted two weeks prior to the scheduled trip.

Returning old phones

Once a new phone is received, please bring your old phone to room 147 in Memorial Hall for proper disposal.
