Summary

Your home directory (also known as your H:\ drive on a PC) is a personal folder created for you on one of the University's servers. Saving your files and documents there allows you to access that information anywhere. Your home directory is also backed-up every night to ensure you will never lose your files if you accidentally delete them or your computer breaks.

Below are instructions for connecting to your home directory from both on and off campus.

ExpanDrive

You can also now use ExpanDrive on Windows or Mac. ExpanDrive is a pre-configured application that mounts your H:\ and O:\ drives. Please visit our ExpanDrive page for instructions on how to use that application.

From On Campus:

Windows:

Employees on a Rowan managed machine can access their home directory (H:\ Drive) by double-clicking the "My Computer" icon on your desktop (or from the Start Menu, depending on what version of Windows you are using) and double-clicking the H: Drive.

Students can access their home directory by taking the following steps:

  • From the Start menu, click "Run"
  • Enter the location of your home directory: \\rowanads.rowan.edu\home\username
  • Login using rowanads\username as your username and your Rowan network password

Mac OS X:

  • Click "Go" on the Finder menu and then "Connect to Server"
  • Enter the location of your home directory in the following format: smb://rowanads.rowan.edu/home/username
  • Login using rowanads\username as your username and your Rowan network password
