IRT COVID-19 Updates: Blackboard maintenance for Glassboro & Webex scheduling tip

As Information Resources & Technology responds to the University’s transition to working, teaching and learning remotely due to the COVID-19 emergency, there are many changes to technology resources happening on a daily basis.

Here are the latest changes as of Tuesday, March 24. You can always find our most recent updates at go.rowan.edu/remote, and we are regularly updating information on that page so please check back often.

Glassboro Blackboard maintenance planned for tomorrow morning

In order to prepare for the expected increase in usage when online classes start next week, Blackboard will be performing proactive system-wide maintenance tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25, from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Blackboard will not be available for Glassboro faculty and students during that four-hour maintenance window.

This maintenance includes infrastructure enhancements that will result in improved performance amid our shift to online teaching and learning.

Schedule Webex meetings ahead of time, whenever possible

The rapid transition to remote work for millions of employees across the nation — and around the world — is testing systems and applications used for telework, including Webex.

Some Rowan University employees are reporting delays in email notifications being sent to invitees when setting up Webex meetings. As Webex works to scale its service to meet the growing demand, we recommend scheduling Webex meetings as early as possible to ensure adequate notification time for invitees.

Get answers to remote working & teaching questions

Information Resources & Technology, the Faculty Center and Rowan Online will be hosting daily Webex sessions for employees who have questions about resources for teaching and working remotely through the next two weeks. These sessions will cover tools that are available for communication and collaboration, such as Google Drive and Webex.

All sessions will be held from noon to 1 p.m.

We will be accepting questions via chat in the sessions. For information about other upcoming sessions, visit go.rowan.edu/remote
