Rowan University's VPN (Virtual Private Network) service allows members of the university community to remotely access network resources typically only available from on campus.

As we work to increase the overall security of our network, we will begin limiting VPN access to approved users on the evening of January 31, 2016.  Users who have accessed the VPN in the past 60 days will be automatically pre-approved in order to avoid any interruption in service.  If you have accessed the VPN in the past 60 days you do not need to take any further action, your access will remain unchanged.

Individuals who require VPN access, but who have not accessed the VPN in the past 60 days, can submit a request with Rowan’s Information Security Office on the Rowan University ID page (  Once you have authenticated to the ID page, click on the yellow “Request VPN Access” button to the right of your User Information at the top of the page to complete the process.  Your request will be evaluated and you will receive a response within two business days.

Once your request has been approved, you can download and install the VPN by following the instructions here:

Individuals requiring access to their Home Directory (H: drive) or the Openarea (O: drive) may also utilize ExpanDrive, which does not require the VPN, from off campus for improved functionality and ease of use.  Please refer to the IRT website at for details.
