Upcoming changes to Rowan Network accounts for separating employees

On Thursday, November 1, Rowan University will start enforcing a new policy that impacts how long employees who are resigning, retiring or otherwise separating from the University maintain access to their Rowan Network accounts. Under the new Separated and Retiring Employee Offboarding Policy:

  • Lecturers, tenured and tenure track faculty, staff and administrators are not eligible to maintain access to their Rowan Network accounts after separating or retiring from the University. These employees will no longer have access to their Rowan Network accounts after their last day of employment at the University.
  • Adjuncts and ¾-time faculty may maintain access to their Rowan Network accounts for one year after the scheduled end of their contract.
  • Professors Emeriti may maintain access to their Rowan Network accounts indefinitely.

Employees who are planning to retire or resign from the University soon are encouraged to take the steps contained in the following article to prepare for this change: Employee Separation: Network Account and Email Checklist.

This new policy was developed by Information Resources & Technology, Human Resources and Internal Audit after a review of how the University manages access to various systems. It is intended to help protect University data by only providing active employees with access to Rowan Network resources.

We are very grateful for your ongoing service to the University, and we thank you for your cooperation in this endeavor to make the University’s data more secure.
