Mandatory Duo enrollment starts for students on 11-26-18

On Monday, Nov. 26, a portion of the general student population will be required to enroll in Duo two-factor authentication when they change their password.  Duo enrollment will become mandatory for all students during the spring semester.

As with employees, students enrolled in Duo will need to verify their identity in order to log in to certain protected applications and websites, including Blackboard, Canvas and Google Apps.

There are several ways to complete this verification process, and students may choose to use the Duo app or receive a phone call or text message on their cell phone.

If you administer exams or other functions using Blackboard or Canvas that require students to have their mobile devices turned off or otherwise inaccessible, students who choose to verify through one of those options may not be able to log in.

Authentication with Duo should only take a minute or so and in no way requires that the student continue to have the phone out or on the desk.

Students may also request a bypass code from duo.rowan.edu that can be used in place of their mobile device during a scheduled exam. The bypass code is good for 24 hours.
