Get your technology ready for Spring 2020!

We’re less than two weeks away from the start of the spring 2020 semester at Rowan University. If you received a new phone or new computer over winter break— or if this is your first semester at Rowan —take the following steps now to make sure you can easily connect your devices to WiFi and other resources on campus.

  1. Set up Duo Mobile on your phone. With Duo Mobile you can complete two-step authentication by approving a push notification on your smartphone, rather than waiting for a text message or phone call.
  2. Equip your computer with anti-virus software. We recommend Windows Security/Defender for Windows computers and Avast for Macs.
  3. Check for updates. If you have a Windows computer, make sure you have automatic updates enabled. If you have a Mac computer, run Software Update.
  4. Install ClearPass OnGuard. ClearPass OnGuard is the gatekeeper for RowanSecure, the University’s preferred wireless network. Download the automatic ClearPass installer for Windows or Mac. Once you’ve installed ClearPass, it will show a status of “Unknown,” which is normal while you are off campus.

To connect a phone or tablet when on campus, you'll choose RowanSecure from the list of available WiFi networks on your device and enter your Rowan Network username and password. Are you bringing a gaming console or smart device to campus? You’ll want to know how to connect to RowanDevice
