Using ChatGPT? Get tips to protect your data when using GenAI

ChatGPT — the fastest-growing app in history — has revolutionized the way humans create content of all kinds. It has also raised serious concerns about safety and privacy.

To mark National Cyber Security Awareness Month this year, Information Resources & Technology will be sharing tips and insight throughout October on how to protect your data — and Rowan’s data —when using generative artificial intelligence (genAI) tools like ChatGPT.

  • Don’t share sensitive, personal information: The information you give tools like ChatGPT may be used to generate responses for other users or could be exposed in a data breach. The best way to protect sensitive data is to not share it.
  • Only use Copilot for most Rowan data: If you’re working with Rowan data, use Microsoft Copilot; it’s the only genAI tool authorized for all Rowan data classification types.

We will be sharing more tips this month through the Rowan Announcer, on our website and on our Instagram account

Cyber security is everyone’s responsibility, and we look forward to helping you protect yourself online!
