Updates to Rowan VPN service

Information Resources & Technology is updating our Rowan VPN service to provide those who require off-campus access to restricted resources with more reliable and secure access. As part of this change, we’re making Palo Alto GlobalProtect available now, and we’ll be retiring Cisco AnyConnect this fall.

We started deploying GlobalProtect to Rowan-managed computers at the end of May. If you require VPN access and haven’t received GlobalProtect yet, you can install it on your own via Company Portal (Windows) or Self Service (Mac). For more information, review our article on Palo Alto GlobalProtect.

When you connect to GlobalProtect from a personal or non-Rowan-managed computer, you will not have the same level of access you had in AnyConnect. This is intentional for security reasons.

If you cannot reach the resources you need in GlobalProtect:

  • First, use a virtual desktop in Citrix.
  • If Citrix does not meet your needs, complete the Remote Access Request form, and we will work with you to determine how best to reach those resources.

Cisco AnyConnect will remain available to those who have used it in the last six months until Monday, September 22. After that date, AnyConnect will be retired.
