Information Resources & Technology is offering classes in Blackboard in August and September to help you get prepared for the upcoming academic year.

Set Up Your Blackboard Course for the New Year and Learn New Tools
10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21
1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, August 27
This training session will provide you with a hands-on overview of the Blackboard interface as you follow along with Blackboard support staff as we discuss tips and techniques to help you prepare for the upcoming semester. During this session, you will learn how to create a course structure that works for you and your students, plan and manage your course materials, and learn basic and advanced features of the Grade Center. You will also have the opportunity to discover new tools, utilize student preview and find creative ways to set up a discussion board.
Blackboard: The Grade Center
1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, September 17
9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25
Learn the basics of Grade Center's capabilities and more advanced features as a means for assessing and grading your students in this class. You'll also learn how to collect assignments online and create weighted grade columns. Topics that will be covered during this session include the instructor's view of student grades versus how students see their grades, how to create and manage columns and categories, assessing student work by grading tests and assignments and using calculated columns to assess student progress.
