Due to changes in Adobe’s licensing model, Rowan University will be updating how we provide access to Adobe Creative Cloud applications in September. This change includes expanding access to Adobe Express while continuing to provide the full Creative Cloud suite to those who need it.
What’s Changing?
- All students and employees will be provided access to Adobe Express, a web-based tool for creating graphics, presentations, videos and other content
- Employees who don’t currently have access to the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite — which includes more than 20 design, video and web applications like Photoshop and InDesign — and need it must request access by emailing support@rowan.edu with the reason for your request. (Employees who already have access will maintain that access).
- All employees on Rowan-managed devices may opt to install Adobe Acrobat Pro from Creative Cloud, even if you don’t have access to the full suite.
- Employees who receive a new, Rowan-managed Windows device will notice a change from the default PDF viewer from Adobe Acrobat Reader to the web browser. The default PDF viewer will not change for new Rowan-managed Mac devices.
What’s Not Changing?
- Students and employees who currently have access to the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite will maintain that access.
- All students and employees may continue to access Adobe Creative Cloud applications through the Academic and Employee Desktops in Citrix and in Rowan computer labs.
- Students who need access to the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite will continue to request access by emailing support@rowan.edu with the reason for your request.
When Are We Making This Change, and Why?
We plan to implement this change on Tuesday, September 15.
We’re making this to manage Adobe licensing more cost-effectively while continuing to provide advanced creative applications to those who need them and expanding access to entry-level tools across the university.
