Use Blackboard to Support Course Instruction
All RowanSOM and GSBS courses have a course shell set up in Blackboard, and most courses already have materials loaded into them, with the exception of some electives in 3rd and 4th years clerkships and some GSBS lab and thesis courses. Instructors can quickly ramp up those courses as they exist in Blackboard and student enrollments are already populated in the courses
Blackboard has several tools to facilitate communication and to allow students to submit assignments and utilize self-study quizzes. However, please note that all high-stakes exams and assignments should be delivered via ExamSoft.
Blackboard Best Practices
Always convert all Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentations to PDF format before uploading to Blackboard. Everyone can easily obtain a free PDF reader and PDF files tend to be smaller in size than the original file format, so they are quicker to load for those who have limited internet speeds.
Course Announcements
Communicate upcoming due dates for any materials and anything requiring one-way communications to students with course announcements.

Discussions
Discussions can be used as a Q&A area for students and instructors, as well as a place where students can support each other as they learn.

Email from a Blackboard Course
Use email to communicate detailed instructions or expectations directly to the whole class. Please note that Blackboard does not have an email server nor can students respond directly to the email itself, rather the email is sent through our email system and replies to the email are not accepted.
Please use your Rowan University email address for back and forth email communications with individual students so you have a record as Blackboard does not keep email history.
